    1. This is one of my textbooks for a university course. It is a joke. I'm telling you right now that even if this book is required for a class, don't buy it. It will ACTUALLY make you more stupid. The information in this book is either wrong, irrelevant, exemplified in offensive terms, or in some cases, all of the above.I have no idea how this was even published, but do yourself a favor, and save the $16. Unless, of course, you need fire starter.

    2. One of the straightforward British series providing overviews of various topics, this short volume by Jerry Ravetz advances his view that we are in a post-normal period in terms of science: problems are complex, values are contested, risks are high, and decisions are urgent. As in his other work, Ravetz situates science as a socioeconomic enterprise subject to political pressures and irrationality, not as a "pure", "truth-seeking" enterprise.
