    1. 4.5 starsThe Second Shadow picks up a few weeks after the first book ends, and Max and Gabby have relocated to Chicago for a fresh start where no one knows them. Similar to the beginning of The Second Sign, Gabby is still getting into trouble at school, but this time it’s not because of her anger but from the strong visions she has now that her powers have evolved. She has transformed into an unusual supernatural being and is still learning to control and manage the competing powers that resid [...]

    2. *I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*I read books one and two of this series back to back, so my review will involve both books since the story is a continuation from one book to the next. The Second Shadow is not a standalone novel; I think a reader would be lost without reading The Second Sign first. Of the two, I enjoyed The Second Sign a bit more than The Second Shadow. This review will be hard to write because to discuss The Second Shadow will spoil the fir [...]

    3. Favorite Lines “I'm in this. With you. I don't know what's going on with the angels and demons, but this can't happen. I won't let it.” “Lessons in love from a traitor. A Fallen who doesn't even know what side he belongs on.” Pat smiled. “I'm on my side. Remember that.” “Opening her eyes, she noticed an ancient sadness in his expression, and a realization that they could never be.” “She’d believed love to be the root of all evil. It made people do unspeakable things, things t [...]

    4. Gabby never imagined what the consequences of saving Jake so long ago would mean for her. In her mind, she was doing the right thing. Sadly, she no longer knows if that is true. So much has changed in so short a time, herself included. She's vowed to control her newfound powers, much to her chagrin. Doing so will be difficult, but it's her only way to overcome the adversities still heading her way. The fact that things have changed between her and Jake isn't lost on her. Sadly, her newest plights [...]

    5. **3.5 Stars**The Second Shadow picks up where the The Second Sign left off. It's an intense ride towards the end of the world. And the end left me gasping.Gabby and her brother, Max, are once again in hiding. Now that she knows the truth of what she is, she's trying to deal with all that entails. Max is by her side, protecting her. However, Gabby isn't able to stay out of trouble in her new school. An altercation with another student lands Gabby in a weekend-long detention. It also finds her fac [...]

    6. Read more reviews at my blog, Words and Tea Bottles.A free copy was given to me in return for an honest review. The Second Shadow is the sequel to The Second Sign, which I read not long ago. Most of what I have to say is that the sequel is even better than the original. The only problems I really had with it were surface errors, mostly typos and the whole ‘use a word that’s close to what you mean’ mistake. There were also a few things that I felt like should’ve been revealed in the first [...]

    7. Jake feels like he's living in Hell. And, in a way, he is. Every minute is torture with his family dead and not being able to be with the girl he loves. Gabby loved Jake so much, she spared him when it could mean the end of humanity. Now they're thrust together again in a nightmare where one of the Four Horsemen is loose. The angels and demons have their own agenda, trying to bend Jake and Gabby to their ways, but if Gabby and Jake don't find another way to end it, both of them will die. This is [...]

    8. I really liked this book. The Second Shadow picks up where Arroyo's first book, The Second Sign leaves off. Jake is part demon and is trying to come to terms with everything that has happened. Gabby is doing her own bit of coping and trying to figure all of it out. The two of them come back together on a camping trip for troubled teens. Both are stubborn and determined but when trouble comes looking in a big way, how they deal with it is the bigger question.I really liked Gabby. Her personality [...]

    9. Book two in The Second Sign series picks up shortly after book one's crazy ending. There are so many reveals and resolutions that just cause more questions and problems to come up. Gabby is trying to figure out what she has become and is sent to a new high school for troubled teens. Of course, Jake turns up there as well. With a whole new cast of characters, this one made it a little easier to keep them all straight, and not all of them need to be remembered. The group is sent on a camping trip [...]

    10. This book was very redundant at times. Especially with Gabby and Jake's emotions. "You lie." seemed to be the only come back suitable for anything said that the characters did not wish to hear. I am confused as to how Gabby and Max could ever be Archangels if their father is only a Seraphim and angel offspring are meant to replace them in the ranks. Wouldn't they be Seraphim too? I was not satisfied with the explanation of Pat getting his wings back. I was not satisfied with the explanation behi [...]

    11. The Second Shadow, by Elizabeth Arroyo, is the sequel to her first book titled The Second Sign. Arroyo has an interesting take on Angels, demons and the apocalypse . The age old story of Good and evil, but in this rendering, the lines are blurry. You don't always know who you can trust. If you like fast paced, high action, supernatural books, then this one is for you. There is never a dull moment when this band of angel demons are trying to save humankind from the end of the world. There is plen [...]

    12. The Second Shadow is Elizabeth Arroyo's sequel to her dark paranormal novel, The Second Sign, which reignited the war between good and evil. After the explosive ending of the first book, Elizabeth Arroyo reveals a transformed Jake, his body and soul consumed by the demons who have claimed him. When Gabby and Jake are forced together again, old feelings bubble to the surface and though they are supposed to be on opposite sides Jake finds remnants of his humanity and love for Gabby overriding his D [...]

    13. Disclaimer: I received this book in exchange for an honest review, but that did not change my reviewing process.Okay, the Second Shadow is the sequel to Elizabeth Arroyo's the Second Sign. I found this one much more enjoyable that the first book, since we had a lot more to work with. However, I didn't like how everything was packed together, but I still enjoyed this book overall, much more than I did that the first book. I especially found the ending quite satisfying.

    14. The Second shadow is fast paced, gripping and dark. The world is heading for apocalypse, demons are everywhere and even the angels seem a bit suspect. It seemed like it was tying everything up nicely at the end, but an unexpected twist has left the plot wide open for another book, and has left me wanting more.

    15. Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks? This isn't a light read. The Second Shadow is deep, dark, at times bloody and twisted, and I enjoyed every minute reading it. This series is pretty epic.
